New user quick start
Your first 15 minutes with Dial Raven - install ConnectUC, sign in, set up voicemail, and make a test call.
Welcome to the team. Follow these steps once and you’ll be ready to make and take business calls from your computer and your phone.
Before you start
- Your ConnectUC username (it looks like
101@yourcompany) and password. Your admin or Dial Raven sends these. - A computer with Chrome or Edge, and a headset if you have one.
- Your smartphone, if you want calls on the go.
Step 1: Sign in on your computer
- Open uc.dialraven.com in Chrome or Edge.
- Enter your username in the Login box and your Password, then click LOGIN.
- If you see the blue banner “The browser is preventing ConnectUC from playing audio. Click anywhere to allow”, click anywhere in the window. This is what lets you hear incoming calls ring.
- If you see “Please allow notifications to receive notifications and updates.”, click Allow, so you see calls and messages even when the tab is in the background.
Tip: Prefer an app on your taskbar or dock? See Install ConnectUC on your computer.
Step 2: Put ConnectUC on your phone
- Install ConnectUC from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android).
- Sign in with the same username and password.
- Allow every permission it asks for, especially the microphone and notifications.
Full steps are in Install ConnectUC on your phone.
Step 3: Pick your audio device
- Click your user icon in the top-left corner, then open Preferences.
- Choose Audio.
- Pick your headset as the Calls and Meetings Speaker and your Microphone, then use Test Sound to check them.
- If your headset isn’t listed, plug it in and click Rescan Devices.
- Click Save.
Step 4: Set up your voicemail
Callers hear your greeting when you can’t pick up, so it’s worth a minute.
- Go to Preferences → Voicemail.
- Next to Voicemail Greeting, click Add new greeting. Name it, then pick a Recording Method: Text-to-speech (type a message for a computer voice to read) or Upload or Record (use your microphone or an audio file). Click Save.
- Set your Recorded Name the same way.
- Click Change voicemail PIN to choose a PIN you’ll remember.
More detail is in Voicemail and transcription.
Step 5: Make a test call
- Click the dial pad button at the bottom of the left-side menu.
- Dial your own mobile number and click Start Call.
- Answer on your mobile and check that you can hear each other clearly.
- Hang up, then call your extension from your mobile and let it go to voicemail. Listen to your greeting to make sure it sounds right.
Heads up: If the other side can’t hear you, check that your browser has microphone permission and that the right microphone is selected under Preferences → Audio.
Step 6: Set your status
Click your user icon and choose Update your Status. In the Set a Status box, add a short message, like “In training until 2 pm”, and click Save. Coworkers will see it next to your name.
Common questions
What’s my extension?
It’s the number before the @ in your username. Coworkers can dial it directly.
Do I need to keep the browser tab open?
Yes. If you use the web version, keep the tab open to receive calls. The desktop app keeps running in the background when you close its window.
Can I use both the app and my desk phone?
Yes. Calls can ring on both, and you can answer wherever is handy. Your admin controls exactly how ringing works.
